What is the ColonoscopyAssist Program About?

  • The ColonoscopyAssist program promotes colon cancer screening among the uninsured community
  • The following tests are provided at heavily discounted rates:
    1. Colonoscopy
    2. Upper Endoscopy
    3. Cologuard
    4. FIT
  • Financial assistance is provided to patients unable to afford the tests.
  • The program focuses on removing financial barriers to CRC screening.

What is an Upper GI Endoscopy / EGD?

An Upper GI Endoscopy or an EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy) is a procedure where a physician will insert a scope through the throat to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine. The procedure is different from a colonoscopy.

What is the cost of the Upper GI Endoscopy / EGD through the ColonoscopyAssist program?

The cost of the procedure is :

  • $820 if performed at the same time as a colonoscopy.
  • $975 if scheduling just an Upper Endoscopy.

Pathology* and sedation are included in the rates listed above.

* EGD pathology is far more expensive than pathology from a colonoscopy and on average exceeds the cost of the procedure itself. The cost of all pathology is included in ColonoscopyAssists all-inclusive rate.

Pathology is usually the most expensive part of an Upper Endoscopy procedure. Random biopsies and swabs are routinely taken and sent to labs to test for rule out issues. It is very normal to have 3 or 4 separate lab tests run on each specimen sometimes resulting in hefty pathology bill.

The ColonoscopyAssist Program includes all pathology costs in its flat all inclusive rate. You will never be surprised by a pathology bill again.
