How do you get approved for a Endoscopy?
Approval for an upper endoscopy typically requires a referral from your primary care doctor or specialist, especially if you’re using health insurance. For patients using ColonoscopyAssist, no referrals or pre-authorizations are needed. Simply check eligibility, find a location, and schedule your appointment directly through our program.
Where can I have the upper endoscopy egd test done?
The procedure must be scheduled with ColonoscopyAssist at a participating provider and or healthcare facility. Endoscopies are available for the fixed all-inclusive rates in most metropolitan cities in the country. You can look up the closest participating provider using our facility locator.
What does our Upper Endoscopy flat rate include?
Our flat fee is an all-inclusive rate. It includes all charges and endoscopyy fee’s related to the procedure, with no hidden expenses. The rate includes:
- Physician fees
- Facility or hospital fees
- Sedation or anesthesia charges
- Removal of polyps and taking of biopsies
- Pathology expenses (pathologist and laboratory fees)
Note: Unlike traditional endoscopy bills, our program covers the pathology expenses for an unlimited number of polyps or biopsies. This comprehensive coverage saves patients significant outlays compared to standard billing practices.
What does our Upper Endoscopy flat rate not include?
- Consultations
Consultations are usually not needed for healthy patients going through the program. Patients can request a consult if they prefer for a discounted rate of approx $125. - Prep Medicine
The expense of bowel prep medicine is not included in the flat rate. You may apply for financial assistance to help with this outlay. - Follow Up Care
Our rate only covers the endoscopy procedure and does not cover any treatment before or after the endoscopy . - Reference Pathology and Genetic Testing
If a biopsy is taken during your endoscopy, standard pathology fees are included in our flat-rate pricing. However, if a cancerous mass is found, additional specialized lab testing (such as genetic testing, immunochemistry, or additional stains) may be required to determine a treatment plan.
These advanced pathology tests are not included in the flat rate and will be billed separately by the lab performing the analysis. If further testing is needed, your doctor or the pathology lab will inform you of any additional costs.
Does the rate change if I have polyps or biopsies?
No, it doesn’t. Finding polyps is a key step in preventing cancer, and we’re committed to finding, removing, and testing as many as needed. Every polyp is sent to a lab for testing, and our all-inclusive flat fee covers polyp removal and lab work for any number of polyps or biopsies—no limits. Whether 2, 3, or even 12 polyps are found, you won’t face any extra charges. Normally, lab testing for polyps can be very expensive. For example, testing just four samples could cost as much as the procedure itself if you’re paying out of pocket.
How long does it take to be scheduled? When can I expect my appointment?
Most patients can have their procedure scheduled within two weeks of submitting their forms—similar to booking directly with a gastroenterologist’s office. We’ll work with you to find a convenient time that fits your schedule.
What are the payment terms?
Payments are due after an appointment is scheduled and can be made with credit card, check, money order or HSA card.
Patients can apply for financial assistance if they need help with paying for their procedure.

Will I get my procedure reports and results?
Absolutely! After your endoscopy, you’ll receive a detailed report from the physician’s office outlining your results. If you’d like, we can also send a copy to your primary doctor to keep your medical records up to date.
Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for my endoscopy?
Yes. You will receive a receipt from our program that should be used when filing Form 8889 with your taxes. We recommend using your HSA or FSA accounts to pay for your endoscopy.
