Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Cost of a Colonoscopy on average?
Colonoscopy costs in the United States can vary widely, averaging over $2,500 without insurance. Many patients are billed by multiple entities, including the physician, facility, anesthesia group, and pathology lab. However, with ColonoscopyAssist, you can access a discounted all-inclusive rate designed to make this essential procedure affordable. Without insurance, a patient should on average expect to pay over $2500 for a colonoscopy. This amount greatly increases if multiple polyps are found.
Who Qualifies for Discounted Colonoscopy Pricing?
You can receive our discounted all-inclusive rate for a colonoscopy as long as you are paying for the procedure out-of-pocket. The program does not have any residency, income or immigration limitations at this time.
Where can I have the colonoscopy procedure done?
The procedure must be scheduled with ColonoscopyAssist at a participating provider / healthcare facility. Colonoscopies are available for the fixed all-inclusive rates in most metropolitan cities in the country. You can look up the closest participating provider using our facility locator.
What does our colonoscopy flat rate include?
Our flat rate is an all-inclusive rate. It includes all costs related to the procedure and there are no hidden charges. The price includes:
- Physician fees
- Facility or Hospital fees
- Sedation or Anesthesia costs
- Removal of polyps and taking of biopsies
- Pathology Cost (Pathologist and Laboratory fees)
Note: Unlike traditional colonoscopy bills, our program covers the pathology costs for an unlimited number of polyps or biopsies. This comprehensive coverage saves patients significant expenses compared to standard pricing.
What does our colonoscopy flat rate not include?
- Consultations:
Consultations are usually not needed for healthy patients going through the program. Patients can request a consult if they prefer for a discounted rate of approx $125. - Prep Medicine:
The cost of bowel prep medicine is not included in the flat rate. You may apply for financial assistance for help with this cost. - Follow Up Care:
Our rate only covers the colonoscopy procedure and does not cover any treatment before or after the colonoscopy. - Reference Pathology and Genetic Testing:
When a cancerous mass is found, a second round of lab testing may be performed where additional stains, immunochemistry and genetic testing are completed to determine a treatment plan. This additional testing is not part of the colonoscopy and is not covered in our flat rate even if the specimen tested was collected during the colonoscopy.
Does the rate change if I have polyps or biopsies?
No it does not. Finding polyps is integral to preventing cancer and we support the philosophy of finding, removing and testing as many polyps as possible. All polyps are sent to a lab for testing and our all-inclusive flat rate includes polyp removal and pathology for any number of polyps or biopsies without restriction. This means that 2, 3 or even 12 polyps could be found and you would not be responsible for any extra cost.
Typically, the cost of pathology is significant. As a self-pay patient, pathology from just 4 specimens could cost just as much than the procedure.
How long does it take to be scheduled? When can I expect my appointment?
Scheduling through the program is the same as scheduling at most gastroenterologist offices. Most patients are able to complete their procedure within 2 weeks of submitting their scheduling forms.
What are the payment terms?
Payments are due after an appointment is scheduled and can be made with credit card, check, money order or HSA card.
Patients can apply for financial assistance if they need help with paying for their procedure.

Just select the procedure in your scheduling forms.
Will I get my procedure reports and results?
Yes. Just like any other medical service, you will receive a detailed report from the physician office after your colonoscopy. A copy of your report can be sent to your primary physician if requested.
Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for my colonoscopy?
