What is the international colonoscopy program about?
As an incentive to encourage Americans to get colonoscopy screenings, ColonoscopyAssist™ has created a vacation colonoscopy package.
The international program includes the cost of a colonoscopy, airfare to an international location and hotel for a discounted price of $995.
The patient is free to stay back and vacation at the location once the procedure is done.
At the moment, we offer the procedure in San Jose, Costa Rica, Cancun, Mexico and Tijuana, Mexico. However, Mexico trips has been put on hold due to safety concerns rising from the recent political events.
Where can I have the colonoscopy procedure done?
The procedure can be performed in :
- San Jose, Costa Rica
- Cancun, Mexico (Not available at this time)
- Tijuana, Mexico (Not available at this time)
All facilities are JCI accredited to meet American standards. The physicians are experienced and board certified. All doctors and nurses that will interact with patients are prescreened to speak English.
How do I qualify for the program?
To qualify for the program, you must have the ability to settle all bills at the time of booking flights.
What does the $995 flat rate include?
The $995 flat rate includes all costs related to the procedure and travel. There are no hidden charges or fine print. The price includes:
1) Airfare to Mexico/Costa Rica
2) Two night stay at a 3 star hotel or higher
3) Consultation before colonoscopy (if necessary)
2) Physician/surgeon fees
3) Facility fees including nurse costs
4) Anesthesia costs (conscious sedation)
5) Removal of small polyps
6) Any incidental costs due to complications during the procedure such as special anesthesia, specialized scope, etc..
We do ask our patients for some flexibility with their schedule dates to keep airfare costs to a reasonable rate.
What does the $995 flat rate not include?
The fixed price does not include:
1) Transportation during your stay
2) Pathology charges to test if polyps are cancerous.
3) In the event that the patient prefers a method of sedation different than the standard offering, they will be responsible for those charges.
How do I pay for the procedure?
Payment can be made in cash or by credit card.
All payments are made in US$ in the USA.
A $50 deposit must be initially made to make an appointment with the facility. The remaining amount is due at the time flights are booked.
Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for my colonoscopy?
No. You can not use your HSA to pay for your colonoscopy if the service is being received outside of the USA.
How much does a colonoscopy cost on average?
Prices for colonoscopies vary greatly depending on the city and facility you go to. You have to keep in mind that a colonoscopy results in the patient being billed by 3-4 different entities. A patient should expect bills from:
- Consultation charge/office visit
- Physician Charge
- Facility fee
- Anesthesia fee
- Pathology fee
Without insurance, a patient should expect to pay $1600-$2200 for a colonoscopy. A considerable savings can be achieved if you schedule through ColonoscopyAssist.
Will the procedure hurt?
Colonoscopies do not hurt. They do make you feel uncomfortable. To make the experience pleasant, we have included conscious sedation anesthesia costs into the price.
